Answers
1)  Q How does the lottery process work?
A

LNCharter utilizes a twofold process to conduct the lottery:

  1. Parents/Guardians will complete and submit an online lottery application between
November 1 - January 31 of each year.
Parents/Guardians will receive an application confirmation number upon completing their application.
  2. At the time of the lottery, the data collected from all application submissions will be used to run our computerized lottery system.
2)  Q What if I have forgotten or lost my application confirmation number?
A

Please double check your email account for the confirmation email you received at the time you completed your online application. If you cannot locate this email, please send an email to lottery@lncharter.org that includes your name, the student's name, grade level applied for and the student's date of birth. Our Registrar will research your request and send you your application confirmation number.

3)  Q How do I know if my lottery application has been received?
A
You can verify receipt of your lottery application(s) on our application confirmation webpage by using the unique application confirmation number issued to you when you applied.
4)  Q I cannot attend the lottery, how can I find out if my child has been admitted?
A

We will place a link on our home page that will take you to a webpage where you can check your child's lottery status. Simply enter your child's application confirmation number and your results will appear on the page.

5)  Q Can I find out my child's results if I attend the lottery?
A

The accepted 5th grade students and the first 20 names on each grade waitlist will be read. All others will be able to check their status on Friday, February 15th, by entering your application number from the Check Results button on our website.

6)  Q I have been placed on the waitlist, how will I know when I move up?
A

Once the lottery has been drawn there will be a button on our website labelled Check Results. You will be able to click, enter your application number and your status will then be displayed. This is updated as spots become available.

Please Note:

Multiple Birth Sibling Rule:
If multiple birth siblings apply for admission to a charter school and a lottery is needed under G.S. 115C-238.29F(g)(6), the charter school shall enter one surname into the lottery to represent all of the multiple birth siblings. If that surname of the multiple birth siblings is selected, then all of the multiple birth siblings shall be admitted.

Proof of Residency:
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, Division of Charter Schools, mandates that applications from out-of-state residents are not eligible for admission unless proof of North Carolina residency can be provided prior to the date of the lottery.
By entering you application number from the link on our website, available after the lottery is over, you will see your current status. If a spot becomes available we will contact you by phone and/or email.
