2012-2013 LNC Board of Directors The LNC Board is comprised of 10 members. The Board's primary responsibility is school governance and to create policy. Board meetings are held one time per month and meetings are typically held on the first Thursday of each month. Meetings are held in the Middle School Media Center beginning at 7:00 pm.
Public Comment at Board Meetings Individuals interested in speaking at a public meeting may register by calling the Middle School office at 704-948-8600. Individuals may register until 3:00 pm on the day prior to the meeting. The Board will allow comments from individuals or organizations. However, if an organization or group of people wishes to speak on the same topic, one group spokesperson must be selected to speak on behalf of everyone. Each speaker will be granted 3 minutes. |
Bill Farber, Chairman of the Board of Directors (bfarber@lncharter.org) Mr. Farber is Vice President Southeast Region and General Manager of Container Graphics Corporation. Mr. Farber is responsible for four manufacturing facilities and sales in the Southeast United States. Container Graphics is the leading supplier of cutting dies and printing plates to the corrugated packaging and converting industries. He serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Lake Norman Charter and has been an active volunteer for Boy Scouts of America since 1999 including Pack, Troop, District and Council Positions. He also volunteered as a soccer coach for AYSO for six years. Mr. Farber holds a Bachelor of Science, Industrial Technology, from Ohio University in Athens, OH and an Associate of Applied Science, Architecture and Building Construction, from Zane State (Muskingum Area Technical College), in Zanesville, OH. He lives in Huntersville with his wife Mollie and their two children, both of whom attend Lake Norman Charter. |
Michael Manahan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors (mmanahan@lncharter.org) Mr. Manahan has over eighteen years of experience in various sales, sales leadership and relationship management leadership positions. Mr. Manahan currently is Vice President of Channel Management for Q2ebanking Software. Mr. Manahan serves as Vice Chairman on the board of Lake Norman Charter. Born and raised in Penn Yan, New York, he received his Bachelor of Business Administration from St. Bonaventure University in upstate New York. During his free time, he can be found on the sidelines volunteering as a coach for his children’s athletic teams. Mr. Manahan lives in Huntersville with his wife Christy and their four children, two of which are currently students at Lake Norman Charter. |
Thomas Ghareeb, CPA (Tom), Treasurer (tghareeb@lncharter.org) Mr. Ghareeb has been with Hearst Magazines for over 20 years. During that time, he held a variety of positions within accounting and finance and is currently the Assistant Resident Controller overseeing the budgeting, forecasting, and analysis for the Magazine Group, both domestic and international. Mr. Ghareeb has been a member of the Lake Norman Charter board since 2007, serving as Board Chairman from 2008-2010. He holds a MBA from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Delaware, and is a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Ghareeb is married and all four of his children attend Lake Norman Charter. |
Tricia Sisson, Secretary (tsisson@lncharter.org) Ms. Sisson has been with the Clorox Sales Company for over eight years and a National Account Manager with Clorox for more than six years. Prior to Clorox, she spent nine years with Johnson & Johnson in various sales management roles. Ms. Sisson is also the Owner and Managing Director of The Range at Lake Norman, a women owned, state of the art firearms shooting facility in Cornelius, NC. She is active in local and civic affairs and serves as Chairman of the Board of Lake Norman Charter. Additionally, Ms. Sisson is a member of the Lake Norman Chamber, President of Leadership Lake Norman Class XIV, Active Rotarian with the North Mecklenburg Rotary Club, and member of the Executive Women of Lake Norman and The Network of Executive Women. Ms. Sisson holds an MBA from University of North Carolina, Charlotte and is a 1987 graduate of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She lives in Huntersville with her husband Brian and their two children Kaitlyn and Sam, both Lake Norman Charter students. |
Edward Bethea (Eddie) (ebethea@lncharter.org) Mr. Bethea has been with Carolinas Healthcare System for over 20 years in various executive capacities. Currently he is the Assistant VP of Corporate Risk Management for the company, which is the 2nd largest not-for-profit healthcare provider in the US. Mr. Bethea manages 22 direct reports and a $33 million operational budget and is responsible for the company’s captive insurance program, self insured trust and OCIP. Additionally, he oversees the investigation of Med Mal, GL and property claims and manages outside defense counsel and the disposition of professional/general liability and self-insured claims and litigation. Mr. Bethea is a board member of Lake Norman Charter, Community Services International, Carolinas Specialty Hospital and AV Captive Insurance Company. He has professional affiliations with the Risk and Insurance Management Society, American College of Healthcare Executives, and American Society of Healthcare Risk Management. Mr. Bethea holds a MBA from Queens University in Charlotte, NC and a BS in Business and Economics from University of North Carolina, Asheville. He and his wife have one child, who attends LNC. |
Cynthia P. Bush, CFA (cbush@lncharter.org) Mrs. Bush is a Managing Director with TIAA-CREF. She is responsible for over $1.5 billion in fixed income investments in the automotive, aerospace/defense, steel and metals/mining industries. She has been with TIAA-CREF for over a decade and prior to that worked with JP Morgan Chase in New York and Citibank in Europe. Mrs. Bush is a board member of Lake Norman Charter, the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte and the Greater Charlotte Cultural Trust. She was formerly appointed by the Mecklenburg County Board of County Commissioners to the Citizens’ Capital Budget Advisory Committee. She holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (“CFA”) designation and is a member of the CFA North Carolina Society. Mrs. Bush graduated magna cum laude from Howard University, in Washington, DC with a BBA in Finance and earned her MBA from Columbia University, in New York, NY. Previously, she was president of alumni chapters of both her undergraduate and graduate educational institutions. She also supports a variety of cultural, civic, and educational charitable organizations. Mrs. Bush is married with two children, one of whom attends Lake Norman Charter. |
James F. Cuttino, Ph.D. (Jim) (non-voting) (jcuttino1@lncharter.org) Dr. Cuttino is the president and founder of Camber Ridge, LLC, a company involved in automotive testing. Prior to starting the company, Dr. Cuttino taught at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he initiated and served as the founding Director of the Motorsports and Automotive Research Center. He attended Clemson University for his BS and MS degrees prior to joining Michelin Americas Research and Development Corporation in the 1980s. He returned to NC State University in 1990 to obtain his Ph.D. in precision instrument design and metrology. Dr. Cuttino has been active in the community, serving on the NC Governor’s Motorsports Advisory Committee, the Cabarrus County Chamber of Commerce Motorsports Committee, the United Way Motorsports Advisory Board, Lake Norman Charter board, and the Greater Lake Norman Area Young Life Committee. He and his wife, Lynne, have three children, all of whom attend Lake Norman Charter. |
Laurie L. Fabian (lfabian@lncharter.org) Ms. Fabian is a dedicated community volunteer who serves on the Lake Norman Charter (“LNC”) board. Over the last seven years, Ms. Fabian has volunteered in many capacities at LNC, including Vice President Athletic Booster Club, Field Trip Chaperones, Proctor, Room Parent, Lunch Program assistant, Recognition Committee Member, and Spirit Store Co-Coordinator. Additionally, she was an active member of the PTAs of both Torrence Creek Elementary and Huntersville Elementary schools. Ms. Fabian was formerly a Program Manager with Blue Cross Blue Shield of NH and an Independent Consultant who assisted healthcare businesses with streamlining their operations and identifying cost efficiencies. She holds a MBA from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of New Hampshire. Ms. Fabian resides in Huntersville with her husband and family. All three of her children attend LNC. |
Ronald A. Jones (Ron) (rjones2@lncharter.org) In December 2011, Mr. Jones retired after a 31½ year career with Duke Energy. He most recently served as Senior Vice President of Nuclear Development for Duke Energy. He was responsible for Duke Energy’s overall new nuclear generation strategy, with a strong focus on continuing development of Lee Nuclear Station in Cherokee County, SC, as well as increasing the company’s focus on new and emergent nuclear technology developments. Mr. Jones served as a member of the Nuclear Safety Review Boards for both the Tennessee Valley Authority and Progress Energy. Additionally, Mr. Jones was a member of the American Nuclear Society and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers; past chairman and past member of the Pressurized Water Reactors Owners Group Executive Management Group and Executive Committee; and past chairman of the Carolinas Nuclear Cluster, to name a few of his many volunteer leadership roles. He is also a member of the boards of directors for Lake Norman Charter and Junior Achievement of the Central Carolinas. The Salisbury, MD native graduated from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. He and his wife, the former Patricia Moran of Poughkeepsie, NY, have two sons. |
Bonnie Newell (bnewell@lncharter.org) Mrs. Newell has been a Managing Director of Berkley Group, LLC, a specialized telecommunications development company for the past 13 years. She also founded Baseline Athletic Productivity, an interactive dynamic athletic website based out of Davidson, NC. Mrs. Newell was involved with the telcommunication infrastructure build out for both AT&T Wireless (T-Mobile) and Bellsouth Mobility (AT&T) at the inception of PCS technology and FCC auctioning. Prior to that she worked in Operations for Realtec, Incorporated out of Atlanta, Georgia at their golf course resort developments located in the southeast. She is a graduate of Clemson University and studied abroad in Cologne, Germany during her college years. She has served on numerous Charlotte Mecklenburg PTA Boards, Davidson Elementary President, Bailey Middle School Planning Board and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Area PTA Board. She and her husband, Mike have three sons. |
