Lake Norman Charter accepted online applications for a public school lottery for students in grades K-12 for the 2022-2023 school year from November 1, 2021 to January 31, 2022. See the Lottery Page for application instructions after the online application period is concluded.
LNC is in its 24th year of operation and has been awarded an “A” grade by the Department of Public Instruction every year since the school grading system was initiated. LNC high school has been named the #11 best high school in North Carolina by US World and News Report. There is no tuition to attend. LNC provides a rigorous college prep program that prepares students to be successful at their college of choice and beyond. The LNC motto is “Together, we learn, lead and serve” and all students experience leadership and service opportunities that are integrated within the school’s curriculum.
LNC is located on two campuses; our middle and high school are on Old Statesville Rd, Huntersville and our elementary school is located on Hambright Rd, Huntersville. The elementary (Grades K-4) enrollment is 610 and the middle school (Grades 5-8) and high school (Grades 9-12) are 800 each. Total enrollment is 2,210 for all three schools.
As mandated by our Charter from the State of North Carolina, open slots will be filled through a lottery. Any applications received after the lottery application period (January 31) will be placed at the end of the waitlist of the grade applied for in the order of receipt, after the lottery has been held. Applications are not accepted, and new students will not be admitted, after the 20th school day.
Students applying must be residents of North Carolina at the time of the lottery. Siblings of currently enrolled students will be given priority for enrollment.
Please note: The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, Division of Charter Schools, mandates that out-of-state residents are not eligible to participate in the lottery.
