Welcome to LNC Elementary School

Message from the Principal

Welcome to Lake Norman Charter Elementary East, a place where together we learn, lead and serve is more than a motto; it’s the heart of who we are as a community. Since joining LNC in 2008, it has been my greatest honor to serve the students, families and staff of LNC, and to help nurture a culture where every child is known, valued and challenged to grow. My leadership is grounded in service, collaboration and the belief that shared relationships and trust create the strongest foundation for learning. At LNC Elementary East, we embrace our Ohana mindset, which is a commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind or forgotten, and we strive daily to build an inclusive, joyful environment where students feel safe, loved, and empowered.

Our teachers work intentionally and creatively to deliver high-quality instruction while also instilling the core LNC Knight values of integrity, empathy critical thinking, communication, adaptability and responsibility. As we look ahead, two goals remain central to our continued growth: strengthening differentiated, research-based instructional practices across all grade levels to ensure every student reaches their fullest potential and deepening collaboration among teachers, families and our broader community to support student success and belonging. I am deeply grateful for our dedicated staff, our supportive families and our amazing students who inspire us every day. Together, we will continue to learn boldly, lead with purpose, and serve our community with heart.

Elementary School Overview

Lake Norman Charter’s Elementary School upholds the long-standing tradition of academic excellence that has defined our school since its founding in the late 1990s. Building on a proven model for student success, our youngest Knights begin their educational journey with a strong advantage. Our low student-to-teacher ratios foster meaningful relationships and allow teachers to provide differentiated instruction that meets each child’s needs. Our educators are experts in their profession, setting high expectations and delivering engaging, purposeful lessons every day.

Elementary students benefit from dedicated blocks of literacy and math instruction, while science and social studies are integrated throughout the curriculum using reading, writing, vocabulary, and math skills. In addition to core academics, students participate weekly in physical education, art, music, media center, and STEM—ensuring a well-rounded and enriching learning experience.

Homework is thoughtfully assigned to reinforce classroom learning and is age-appropriate at each grade level. Our goal is to provide meaningful practice that strengthens understanding. Technology supports learning across the campus, with Smart Boards in every classroom and access to student devices that help prepare learners for a rapidly evolving, technology-driven world.

At Lake Norman Charter, we teach to the hearts as well as the minds of our students. As we build the foundation for learning, leadership and service development is woven throughout the school day. We believe every child has unique strengths and the potential to lead in many ways. Service learning is taught, modeled, and practiced as students grow through their elementary years and beyond.

Elementary School Clubs

Club Day at the elementary school is designed to encourage leadership, spark new friendships, and introduce students to fresh experiences. Students in Kindergarten through 4th grade participate in a club interest survey during the school day and are then placed in one of their top three choices.
