Week of March 14

3/15/22:  Congratulations to the boys on their 7-2 score and first win of the season!

At No. 1 singles, Austin Cunningham won 8-1.
At No. 2 singles, Rohan Manargudi won 8-3.
At No. 3 singles, Ethan York won 8-4.
At No. 5 singles, Aaron Wang won 8-1.
At No. 6 singes, Neil Banahatti won his first match of the season 8-1.

Neil and Anish Yadla also got their first win at No. 3 doubles, defeating their opponent 8-1.

At No. 1 doubles, Austin and Rohan won 8-0.

In exhibition play, Lucas Hubert and Ashrith Kattika played two doubles matches winning both 8-1.

3/18/22:  LNC 11 - Lincoln Charter 7
The Knights played great and were led by Preston Graham on offense and Drew Weber on defense.

3/18/22:  LNC 9 - West Rowan 0
Kayla Patel (Jr.) started the half off strong with the first goal in the 6th minute, assisted by Kate Robinson (Fr.). Two minutes later, off of a corner kick by Haven Stanley (Sr.), Rylie Cook (Jr.) headed the ball straight into the back of the net. In the 17th minute, Eliza Rich (Sr.) scored her first goal with an assist from Annie Poteat (Sr.). Briana Hatch (Sr.) assisted Haven Stanley (Sr.) only three minutes after Rich’s goal. Following her assist, Rich  scored her second goal in the 22nd minute with an assist from Patel. With another amazing corner from Stanley, Eliza Rich succeeded in scoring her third goal of the night with a header. To finish off the half, Stanley scored the seventh goal in the 38th minute after a smart play from Rich on a free kick. 

In the second half, Cook scored her second goal in the 48th minute of the game with an assist from Rich. The last goal was scored by Hatch in the 56th minute from a free kick from Rich, resulting in a mercy rule. 

3/16/22:  LNC 2 - Wilke Central 0
The Lady Knights started off strong with a goal from Haven Stanley (Sr.) in the 1st minute of the game with an assist by Rylie Cook (Jr.). For the remainder of the half, both teams were unable to score. In the second half, Wilkes Central gained some momentum, resulting in 5 saves from Imani Anzaya (So.). However, the Lady Knights continued to fight and earned a corner kick in the 69th minute that Stanley placed beautifully in the box for Reese Robinson (Sr.). to put away.

3/17/22:  LNC 17 - Christ the King 9
The Knights were led by Jake Rombough with 5 goals. Tyler Price also contributed 4 goals and 3 assists. Quincy McKay had 9 saves in net for the Knights. 

3/14/22:  LNC 20 - Mooresville 
The Knights were led by Joseph Royster, who had 2 goals,15 ground balls, and won all 21 face offs attempted. 

3/17/22:  LNC 17 - Christ the King 6
The Lady Knights persevered through a tough first half with a shutout, but in the second half, they were able to come up with 6 goals on the Crusaders. In midfield, junior Meredith Bordeaux came up with 3 draw controls to match her 3 ground balls and 2 caused turnovers. Senior and co-captain Mary Sorvillo led the momentum in the second half, putting up 4 goals, winning 5 draw controls, fielding 4 ground balls, and causing 2 turnovers!

Senior attackers Morgan Thomas and co-captain Bryn Shelper also helped rack up points, both pitching in 1 goal each! The team’s defense played strong, with defenders senior Peyton Graham and sophomore Jordan Cornellier, who caused 1 turnover each, and senior rookie Georgia Chapman who caused a total of 3 turnovers! Defensive players freshman rookie Olivia Zvanut and junior co-captain Gaby Bernardo also helped out, both fielding 1 ground ball and causing two turnovers. 

3/15/22:  LNC 22 - Mooresville 13
This win was particularly notable as an entirely rookie lineup was able to hold off the Mooresville Blue Devils for the last few minutes of the game, showcasing every one of these new players’ hustles, improvement and impressive skills at only the 6th game of the season! Instigating big plays and possession for the Lady Knights in midfield was returning junior Meredith Bordeaux, who was a major threat on the draw, getting a total of 6 draw controls while also making noise on the attack with 4 points on the night, scoring 1 goal, and having 3 assists! Another notable play from midfield was a fast-break goal for rookie senior Megan Wozniak!

On attack, standout players like seniors Morgan Thomas and co-captain Bryn Shepler had 1 assist each for the Lady Knights, with Thomas also scoring 3 goals herself and Shepler putting up 4 on the scoreboard! Freshman rookie Ava Purser also pitched in 1 assist, snagged several chases, and took the draw for the team! Defenders Peyton Graham, Olivia Zvanut and Hannah Vance also pitched in 1 ground ball each to keep the Lady Knights in possession for the game!

MVPs of the night were co-captains and midfielders Mary Sorvillo (senior) and Gaby Bernardo (junior) along with sophomore goalie Natalie Barry! Sorvillo scored 8 huge goals for the team along with fielding 3 ground balls and controlling 1 draw. Bernardo put up 6 goals for the Lady Knights, matching a total of 6 ground balls to keep possession, along with 1 draw control! Barry has been a crucial asset on the team in goal and has proven herself to be a force to reckon with on the team’s defense!

3/14/22:  LNC 17 - Butler 10
With a huge team effort and hustle, standout players like senior defender Peyton Graham with a goal and senior midfielder Megan Wozniak with 6 draw controls and an assist, made huge plays all throughout the game!

To match Wozniak, senior and junior co-captains Mary Sorvillo and Gaby Bernardo both controlled 4 draws, with Sorvillo also putting up 6 goals and Bernardo pitching in 2 as well. Senior attacker Morgan Thomas scored 4 goals, alongside senior co-captain Bryn Shepler who pitched in 2, and junior Meredith Bordeaux and Ava Purser who had 1 goal each on the night. Defense had some big plays as well, with freshman Olivia Zvanut and Jordan Cornellier both getting crucial possession with two ground balls each, even earning Cornellier the title as one of the MVPs of the night! Alongside Cornellier is sophomore Sloan Turner and freshman Lauren Saine who hopped onto midfield in the game for the first time and hustled hard on the field. Congratulations to the Lady Knights, and we hope to see more team effort wins from this impressively progressing team moving forward!

The men won their third straight conference match of the year at Crescent Golf Club in Salisbury, NC. The Knights were led by a 2nd place finish by senior Ben Bailey with a 35, and a 5th place finish by junior Brady Rowland with a 38.  Ben Bailey, Brady Rowland and senior Patrick Royster all had career low rounds.
