5th-7th Grade MAP Testing
Students in 5th, 6th, and 7th grades will be testing the mornings of Tuesday, March 13 and Wednesday, March 14. We are asking for your help in ensuring your child gets a good night's sleep, eats a healthy breakfast, and is on time for school each morning as we will begin testing by 8:15am. Please remind your child to take the test seriously and to do his/her best work. The MAP is an online test and therefore your student's iPad is essential in order to complete the test. Please make sure that your student's iPad is fully charged and that your child brings his/her iPad to school both days. We do not have enough loaners to provide to students who forget their iPads.
As always, we appreciate your partnership with us in your child's education. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Graham at cgraham@lncharter.org.
MS Principal's Coffee Chat
All parents are invited to the Principal’s Coffee Chat next Tuesday, March 13. The Coffee Chat is an opportunity to meet with administrators, ask questions, and hear updates of school happenings. Please join Dr. Graham and Mr. Bauer in the community room from 8:15 to 9:10am. Coffee and a breakfast snack will be available.
2018-2019 Course Selection
We are excited to roll out a new, online process for selecting courses for the 2018-2019 school year. This will apply to our current 5th-11th grade students and more information will be provided soon. In the meantime, here are some key dates to note.
3/21 – PowerSchool Parent Portal login information sent home with students (along with 3rd quarter report cards and emergency contact forms)
3/21 – PowerSchool’s online scheduling tool is available to make course choices
3/26 – Rising Freshmen Course Selection Night
4/13 – Course Selection Deadline/Online Scheduling Closes
Rising Freshmen: Save The Date!
Parents of 8th grade students, please add an important date to your calendar: Rising Freshman Course Selection Night on March 26 at 6:30pm (please note the corrected time change) in the HS MPR. This is an important 60-90 minute session in which you and your 8th graders will receive valuable information to help make wise 9th grade course decisions and learn what they can expect as they transition from the MS to the HS. Please see important dates above regarding the 2018-2019 course selection.
Do You Have Old Eyeglasses?
The Builders’ Club is collecting used eyeglasses in good condition to give to the Lion’s Club. Donated glasses will be refurbished and given to people who need eyeglasses but cannot afford them. If you would like to contribute used eyeglasses, please wrap them in a clean cloth (nothing fancy) to protect them from getting broken, and have your child place them in the box on the main hallway. The collection cycle runs from March 7 until Spring Break. Thank you, Caroline Rucker, for this idea!
Summer Cheer Camp
Starting to make summer plans? The LNC Cheerleaders are offering 2 Kids Cheer Camps this summer. These camps run from 9am-12pm and are great for all ages. Participants will spend time learning basic cheer motions, cheers, chants, jumps and dances among many other skills! In addition to a great week of camp with friends, participants are also invited to attend a Varsity Football game in the fall and cheer between quarters on the track with the HS girls. Please click here to complete the registration form. We would love to have you attend and join us this summer! Please feel free to e-mail lncscheer@gmail.com with any questions.
