Elementary School Counselor

  • Our elementary school counselor participates as a member of the educational team and uses skills of leadership, advocacy and collaboration to promote student success. At Lake Norman Charter we see our educational team as a collaborative effort between the school counselor, parents, administration, and other educators to create an environment that promotes student achievement. School staff and our school counselor value and respond to the diversity and individual differences in our students and in the community.

Direct services to students are services that are “in-person” interactions between the student and school counselor and include the following:

    • Integration of leadership skills training and counseling focuses of study within the school setting/classroom
    • Individual student planning
    • Emotional and social support for students
    • Daily responsive services

Indirect services are provided on behalf of the student as a result of the school counselor's interactions with others including:

    • Referrals for assistance
    • Consultation and collaboration with parents, teachers, other educators and community agencies

In support of meeting our students’ mental health and well-being needs, Lake Norman Charter is continuing its partnership with Novant Health to provide the assistance of  mental health specialist Dr. Danielle Graham. She will provide brief, on-site support and intervention, help students connect to longer-term care and deliver programming and consultation to contribute to a culture in which mental health is valued, protected and prioritized. Lake Norman Charter counselors and Dr. Danielle Graham will be working closely with each other to ensure LNC students receive the support needed for their academic and emotional well-being.
