Lake Norman Charter School is a public charter school serving students in grades K-12 across four campuses in Huntersville, NC.
LNC is located on four campuses:
-
- LNC Middle School and LNC High School are on Old Statesville Road, Huntersville
- LNC Elementary School-East is located on Hambright Road, Huntersville
- LNC Elementary School-West is located on McIlwaine Road, Huntersville (opening fall, 2026)
We do not have a Pre-K or TK program. Two elementary schools serve grades K-4 with an enrollment of 985 (ES-East enrollment of 610, ES-West enrollment of 375), the middle school serves grades 5-8 (enrollment of 800), and the high school serves grades 9-12 (enrollment of 800). The total enrollment for all four schools is 2,585.
As a public charter school, and in compliance with state law, LNC enrolls students through a lottery process. This approach eliminates biases and ensures each applicant, regardless of his/her background or academic abilities, has an equal chance of securing a seat. All open seats are filled from this lottery. Remaining applicants will be placed on a waitlist for their grade based on the order their application was drawn in the lottery. Seats will be filled as they become available through the 20th day of school.
The lottery application window is November 1 through January 31. The lottery will be held no later than the third week in February.
Students applying must be full-time residents of North Carolina at the time of the lottery.
Siblings of currently enrolled students will be given priority for enrollment.
Enrollment Process:
1. Apply to LNC’s lottery via the online application located on the school website from November 1 through January 31.
2. Complete all required forms and provide copies of additional documents within the communicated deadline of acceptance date.
3. Paperwork is accepted and processed.
4. New student is considered enrolled.
Paper applications can be completed at the respective school for which grade level you are applying. Any paper applications received after January 31 will NOT be entered into the lottery system but will be added, in the order in which it was received, to the end of the appropriate grade level waitlist generated by the lottery. Please view our lottery page for information on how to apply after the lottery has been held. Applications are not accepted, and new students will not be accepted, after the 20th school day. -
