Real Estate Broker
After graduating from UNC Charlotte in 2019, I wanted to find a job that I would be passionate about. 2 years later, I started my career with Allen Tate and couldn’t be more excited about it. While I work real estate full time, I also am a part-time photographer. You can find me on Instagram at @katehendersonphotosTJ Francomano '13
Financial Advisor and Snowboard Instructor
Since graduating from LNCS, I moved to Colorado where I attended Colorado State University to receive my bachelors degree. Over the last 6 years, I have been working at Breckenridge Ski Resort as a Snowboard Instructor teaching technical and high terrain riding and safety which led to being sponsored by a local snowboard company. While this was a fun and adventurous job, I decided to separate my passion and career by joining Merrill Lynch as a Financial Advisor in mid-2018 helping clients with financial planning and wealth management. During the spring and fall I volunteer my time coaching youth lacrosse in Boulder as well as running training camps for the Summit High School lacrosse team in Breckenridge. Today, I enjoy spending my free time with my dog, Diesel, going rock climbing and mountain biking near our home in Boulder, CO and spending the weekends in Breckenridge hiking and snowboarding almost all year round.Lauren Bush '18
Chemistry Major, Math and Political Science
Lauren Bush is in her sophomore year at Howard University in Washington, DC and has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA. She is part of the BISON STEM scholarship program and spent the summer before her freshman year of college in Berlin, Germany, attending science seminars. She especially appreciated those facilitated by a consultant with the World Health Organization (“WHO”) on infectious diseases and their impacts on the world.
Lauren is interested in health diplomacy and finding the integration between science and background policy decisions. She plans to achieve a PhD in epidemology to explore how infectious diseases afflict distinct populations and the best methods to curtail them. In the summer of 2019, at the end of her freshman year, Lauren interned at the National Institutes of Health (“NIH”) evaluating different bilateral programs between the United States and other countries to better facilitate scientific exploration on infectious diseases.Kaitlyn Guidry '13
Veterinary Student
I am halfway through my second semester at veterinary school on the island of St. Kitts! It is an adventure being on an island itself, let alone for school! I am currently interested in emergency medicine although that is subject to change. I am a big believer in One Health in that all branches of medicine are intertwined and we cannot ignore that aspect of medicine just because we are studying/practicing one branch. I would love to be a resource to anyone who is thinking about going to veterinary or veterinary technician school.Lindsay White '15
Multimedia missionary with On Field Media - a branch of Africa Inland Mission (AIM) that captures the incredible stories of all God is working throughout Africa. In January 2020, I will be moving to Kenya to join OFM for (at least) two years as a photographer/videographer/writer. I will work in the office in Nairobi, as well as travel each month with my team to different countries across Africa. We partner with other AIM missionaries and tell the stories of unreached people groups, the work of the missionaries, and how God is becoming known. We will put together photo essays, videos, and articles to bridge the gap between here + there, and to encourage a “call to action” in the Western church.Justin Groody '12
Dental Student at the UNC School of Dentistry Class of 2020
I am currently in my third year of dental school at UNC and over the past few years I have developed a passion for the field of orthodontics. I am applying to residency this summer...fingers crossed! I love that as an orthodontist you can completely improve the function and esthetics of your patients and that can have an incredibly positive effect on their self esteem and confidence. More specifically, I have developed an interest in the craniofacial aspect of orthodontics and the treatment of patients with cleft lips and palates. I just completed an Operation Smile dental mission in Managua, Nicaragua that was honestly one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. The love and compassion the patients and international team demonstrated has motivated me to treat this cohort of patients in my career. I plan to continue working on dental missions and pursue my interest in the field of orthodontics.

Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter
Since graduating for the University of Florida in May 2018, I’ve moved to Alabama where I’m the Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter for WAAY 31. Every week I do stories on pretty much anything local sports related. A bonus of my job is Auburn and Alabama are just a few hours away so I go there often. I had the awesome opportunity to go to the SEC Championship in Atlanta, the Orange Bowl in Miami and the National Championship in California. I'd love for y’all to see some of my work, feel free to follow me on Twitter (@lcavasinni11) and Facebook (@LaurenCavasinniSports)!Jacob Abel ’16

Kindergarten Teacher
I graduated from UNCC in 2017 with my bachelor's in Elementary Education. I was then hired at Thomasboro Academy, a Title 1 school in CMS. I recently began my second year at Thomasboro as a kindergarten teacher and absolutely love it!
I try to make learning as fun and engaging as possible in my classroom. These wonderful 5 and 6 year olds love learning about math, reading, and writing. I am also able to equip them to be kind, honest, hardworking scholars. I love my students, I love what I do, and I truly feel that I have found my calling!McClellan Laing '12
I started working for a vet hospital 2 years ago as a receptionist and transferred back to Charlotte where I started school to become a registered veterinary technician. I’ve recently been promoted to veterinary assistant and engagement leader so I can grow my skills working hands on with our patients as well as help keep up engagement and morale in the hospital.Nicki Mitchell '14

My Thesis research is focused on trying to determine if certain changes in DNA can increase someone's risk of suffering a recurrent stroke. I'm specifically looking at five genes that are involved in the Folate-Mediated One Carbon Metabolism Pathway, which regulates the production of Homocysteine, a precursor amino acid, in the bloodstream. Elevated levels of Homocysteine can lead to the development of atherosclerosis, the narrowing of arteries due to a build-up of fatty acids, which can lead to a higher risk of suffering a stroke. So, through my research, I'm aiming to determine if any of changes in DNA I'm looking at are associated with recurrent stroke and/or high levels of Homocysteine. My findings could shed light on the genetic causes of recurrent stroke.Rachel Gebelein Mulock '12
Spanish teacher at Hillsborough Elementary School in Orange County..."I teach every child in the school, and it is a dream come true. Teaching little kids can be a challenge (especially in a 90% Spanish classroom), but spending time with them, watching them grow, and sharing the language that I love with them is time well spent. If you want to take a look at the assignments we have completed head to my site!Devin Moskowitz '12
Art Gallery Director on Celebrity Eclipse for Parkwest Galleries
I have to take a moment to brag on my own sister. She has everyone’s dream job. Devin Moskowitz currently works for the art department on cruise ships as an Art Gallery Director. Recently she embarked on her third contract through Europe. While leading the team of the top art selling cruise on one of the top cruise lines, she’s living out her dream of traveling the world. This contract alone she will visit over 20 countries, bringing her total country count to 50! The picture is highlighted to show all the countries she will visit before the end of the year.
Her first contract was in the Caribbean on a Carnival cruise, where she learned a lot. Devin’s performance and sales records were so amazing that she was double promoted when he started her second contract! That contract she explored ports all across New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii, and Alaska while on a Royal Caribbean cruise (oddly enough that cruise actually never went through Caribbean waters).
Our family has never seen Devin so happy and excited! We are certainly extremely proud (and jealous) of her! Check out her Facebook for lots of great pictures.Jamie Williams '12

Small Business Owner
Hi everyone! I have created a small business selling personalized pet portraits for people. The medium I use is prisma colored pencils. I began as a senior at LNC creating art for my AP Art portfolio and now I am selling my work all across the country. It started out as a side job to make a little extra money but has grown into something a little bigger and is continuing to do so! I am currently a senior at UNCC studying Earth and Environmental Science but seeing where both paths take me. You can find more of my work on Facebook and Instagram on Pet Portraits By LexiMegan Somloi '13
Digital Marketing at the U.S. National Whitewater Center
My name is Megan Somloi, and I’m a “lifer” who graduated from Charter in 2013. During college at USC, I became a raft guide as a summer job and fell in love with the world of whitewater. After a foray into the PNW, the warm, year-round Southeast kayaking drew me back, where I joined the marketing team at the US National Whitewater Center. I am lucky to have stumbled across the joy of whitewater kayaking, and through my job in digital marketing at the Center my goal is to expose as many folks as possible to the outdoors lifestyle - whether it’s taking a walk in the woods or finding a lifelong passion. I spend my free time weekend warrior-ing all over the Southeast (and beyond whenever I get the chance), mainly in a kayak but also dabbling in mountain biking, climbing, backpacking, skiing - if it gets me playing outside I’m probably stoked on it! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the Whitewater Center, careers in the outdoor industry, or whitewater kayaking/outdoor recreation. You don’t have to be an expert to enjoy these sports and their community, and I’m happy to help you find the resources you need to get started. Get out there and play!Nick Nail '17
Military - United States Air Force
I enlisted in the United States Air Force in January of 2019 and I’ve just hit my one year mark of service. I am currently deployed to the Middle East, where I’m tasked with handling, storing, transporting, arming and disarming non-nuclear munitions (ammo). I am very thankful for the opportunities to travel and meet new people in the military and I hope to do 20 years of service.Jillian Swett '12
Attorney at Law
My name is Jillian Swett, and I graduated with Charter's second graduating class in 2012! Ever since I was 10 years old, I knew I wanted to be a lawyer. After graduating from NC State in 2016, I moved to Williamsburg, VA to attend William & Mary Law School. While there, I found that being a lawyer was so much more than what I expected when I was 10, 15, and even 20. I discovered that the legal field gives me the perfect opportunity to merge my interests with a career. Law school was a difficult journey, but it was worth it. Now, I work in Davidson, NC at The McIntosh Law Firm in the business law department. If you're interested in a legal career, don't be scared by the horror stories you might hear about the job. I work hard, but still have plenty of time to spend with my (soon-to-be) husband and my dog, volunteer and engage with the community, do yoga, and even watch Netflix. Please feel free to reach out if you have an interest in any sort of legal career (lawyer, paralegal, legal assistant, etc.), I would be happy to talk and offer any insight I can! If you want to learn more about my academic history/legal work, you can find me at https://mcintoshlawfirm.com/jillian-swett/.Liz Bernardo-Stewart '11
American Shakespeare Center Education and Group Sales Associate (Marketing and Management)
After LNC, I double majored in English and Theatre at UNCW and graduated with honors in both in 2015. I immediately started grad school in Staunton, VA and graduated with my Master of Letters in 2017 and a Master of Fine Arts in Shakespeare and Performance in 2018 from Mary Baldwin University, acting in Macbeth, Doctor Faustus, The Knight of the Burning Pestle, and Pericles and directing As You Like It, MacLeish's J.B., and my own adaptation of Sleeping Beauty. During my graduate studies, I worked as a Social Media Manager for my program, my MFA Company's manager, and interned at the American Shakespeare Center working on productions such as Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Twelfth Night, The Santaland Diaries, and The Fair Maid of the Exchange.Since graduating from LNC, I've worked at a variety of theatres in both Wilmington, NC and Staunton, VA doing work from acting to stage management to directing to teaching, but finally found my passion in marketing and non-profit arts management through my graduate program's partnership with the American Shakespeare Center. I now work to bring schools to visit the ASC to introduce kids to theatre and Shakespeare's works (with huge thanks to Melissa Alter Smith). I'm always happy to talk to anyone who's interested in theatre, the arts, or marketing (or even internships!) via a message on FB.
I also recently got married and bought a house in VA with my husband, Caleb, who I met at UNCW. We're currently settling into married life and excited to what this chapter of our lives has in store for us!

After years working on electing Andrew Gillum for Governor in Florida, for The City of Tampa, and on a local ballot referendum, I have landed my dream job working for Jane Castor, whom is running for, and leading the race, for Tampa mayor! During my time at Charter, I developed a passion for history and political action, and as a student I have been able to develop those skills and passions to having 2 years of work experience, and a full time job before I graduate. My goal is to continue to work campaign communications and eventually work as a press secretary or communications director for a big time candidate or office holder. I love working for candidates that I am passionate about and making sure that everyone shows up to vote!Maria Hoidas '13

Inside Sales Specialist
Over the course of the past year I have moved across the country to Seattle and started working as a sales engineer for Ingersoll Rand, following in the footsteps of my father. While primarily I sell Air Compressors I also work hand in hand with our marketing team on different revenue generating campaigns and support my team in the field. Fortunately, this role has allowed me to travel through most of the west coast and more importantly still continue to play music when the work day is through.Kristiana Chan '11
Artist, surf instructor
"I’ve been living in San Francisco the last two and a half years. I worked as a middle school art teacher for a while, and recently made a career move to pursue art. I work part time for a non-profit that teaches girls and women of color how to surf and connects them with the ocean, a place where I spend a lot of my time and draw a lot of my strength and energy from. I’m working on a few art shows right now that open next month, and am On the curatorial team for an arts show that opens this fall. I make art about my heritage, feminine identity, and connection to/disconnection from culture and place. SF is probably the most expensive city in the country right now, and it is pretty hard to make a living as an artist here, but I am so grateful to get to work doing the things I love. It’s a huge privilege!"If anyone wants to follow her on Instagram, look her up.
