• Lake Norman Charter accepted online applications for a public school lottery for students in grades K-12 for the 2024-2025 school year from November 1, 2023 to January 31, 2024. See the Lottery Page for application instructions after the online application period is concluded.

LNC is in its 26th year of operation and is in the top 6% of all NC public schools, having been awarded an “A” grade by the NC Department of Public Instruction each year since it initiated that school grading system. We have also been ranked by US News & World Reports in the top 2% of high schools nationwide and #15 in North Carolina based on AP performance, academic proficiency, college readiness and graduation rates.  In addition, Niche.com ranked LNC Elementary School in the top 1% of all elementary schools nationwide, LNC Middle School in the top 2% of all middle schools nationwide and LNC High School in the top 4% of all high schools nationwide.

The LNC motto is “Together, we learn, lead and serve” and all students experience leadership and service opportunities that are integrated within the school’s curriculum. LNC is located on two campuses; our middle and high school are on Old Statesville Rd, Huntersville and our elementary school is located on Hambright Rd, Huntersville. The elementary (Grades K-4) enrollment is 610 and the middle school (Grades 5-8) and high school (Grades 9-12) are 800 each. Total enrollment is 2,210 for all three schools.

As mandated by our Charter from the State of North Carolina, open slots will be filled through a lottery. Any applications received after the lottery application period (January 31) will be placed at the end of the waitlist of the grade applied for in the order of receipt, after the lottery has been held. Applications are not accepted, and new students will not be admitted, after the 20th school day.

Students applying must be residents of North Carolina at the time of the lottery. Siblings of currently enrolled students will be given priority for enrollment.

Please note:  The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, Division of Charter Schools, mandates that out-of-state residents are not eligible to participate in the lottery.
