The THRIVE Committee is a collaborative, cross-campus initiative at Lake Norman Charter dedicated to enriching the student experience through purposeful leadership development and real-world career exposure. Composed of members from all stakeholder groups, the committee works to align school-wide programs that support students in thriving academically, socially, and professionally. The committee is led by LNC Board of Education members Michael Eastwood and Nicole Benford and LNC Administrators Nick Carlascio and Marcus Funchess.
The mission of this committee is to help enrich the LNC students' overall experience in academics, leadership and service while being mindful of their personal wellness—with a goal of going above and beyond traditional academics to help our students develop into well-rounded, community-minded young adults, with leadership and personal skills that can help them succeed in life and make positive impacts on their communities.
THRIVE stands for:
- Total student development
- Holistic preparedness
- Readiness for the future
- Innovative thinking
- Visionary approach to education
- Enriching extra-curricular experiences
The short-term goals for the committee are to expand career exploration opportunities, develop opportunities to recognize and celebrate exemplary leadership, and support the connection of the Leadership in Action program across all school levels to ensure we have a strong, comprehensive program that fosters leadership skills among our students throughout their K-12 development. - Total student development
